Feed Unit
Adjust the Chain Feed Tension
- 1.Run the cradle to the low end position on the feed beam.
- 2.Tighten or release the chain (B) by turning the nut (A) and counter-holding on the chain (B) of length 30 mm (1.2 in.).
Attach the Rock Drill to the Feed
Precondition
The feed is clean from corrosion inhibitor.
- 1.Remove burrs, paint, or other coatings from the cradle and the contact surfaces on the rock drill.
- 2.Remove the mounting bolts from the cradle.
- 3.Position the rock drill with any shims on the cradle and install the bolts.
NOTE
Make sure that the rock drill is firmly in place.
- 4.Tighten the bolts alternately until a torque of 200 Nm (148 lbf.ft) has been attained to tighten the rock drill in place.
- 5.Connect and install the hoses to the rock drill.
- 6.Adjust slide rails and hoses according to the directions in this instruction manual.
Check Rock Drill after Four Hours from Assembling
- 1.Check and tighten all the bolted joints.
- 2.Check and adjust the tension of the ropes.
- 3.Check all the hoses for leaks.
- 4.Tighten and adjust the tension of the hoses if necessary.
- 5.Check and adjust the slide rail alignment on the feed beam.
Adjust the Cradle on Feed Beam
The cradle plates are guided along the feed beam with holder (D). Each pair of holders is locked in position with bolts (C). The bolt holes in the holders are in the form of angled grooves. The cradle can be adjusted on the feed beam by shifting the holders lengthways.
Holders (D) are turned the same way as in the illustration so that the outer part of the angled grooves is facing to the rear of the beam.
Precondition
The feed unit is in the horizontal position and the drill rod is installed in the rock drill.
- 1.Remove the bolts (C) that attached to the holders.
- 2.Adjust the upper holders so the cradle is lying straight on the beam and is 5–7 mm (0.2-0.28 in.) above the beam.
Adjustment Measurement Step resultShank adapter is set at the correct height.
- 3.Then shift the lower holders lengthways until a clearance of 1 mm (0.04 in.) has been attained between the lower holder and feed beam.
- 4.Tighten the bolts (B).
- 5.Check by running the cradle along the entire beam.
NOTE
Make sure that the pressure to run the cradle forwards must be maximum 30 bar (435 psi) with the hydraulic oil at operating temperature.
NOTE
If the pressure exceeds 30 bar (435 psi), the holders are too tight and must be readjusted.
- 6.Replace damaged hoses and tighten leaking connections.
NOTE
The hoses are correctly adjusted when they do not hang down when the feed is in the horizontal position.
Replace Slide Pieces in Holder
NOTE
If the wear allowance for any of the slide pieces is less than 1 mm, replace all the slide pieces.
Each holder has replaceable slide pieces. The slide piece (B) is kept in place by three keys (A). The slide pieces must be replaced at regular intervals so that the steel in the holder does not wear against the beam.
- 1.Remove the bolts (C) to remove the holder (D).
- 2.Remove the keys (A). Each slide piece (B) is kept in place by keys.
NOTE
Each slide piece (B) is kept in place by keys (A).
- 3.Remove the slide pieces (B) from the holder.
- 4.Slide a new slide piece (B) into the holder track and install it to the holder (D).
- 5.Install the new keys (A).
- 6.Install the holders (D) to the cradle correctly and adjust so the total lateral play is 2–3 mm (0.08-0.12 in.).
Replace Slide Rails
WARNING
Disassembling and Assembling Components
Can cause personal injury.
Components that could move or fall down must be securely supported or strapped in place during service and maintenance work.
WARNING
Heavy Objects
Can cause crushing injury or death.
Do not stand under the heavy object being lifted.
Use adequate lifting device.
WARNING
Moving Parts
Can cause personal injury.
Shut off the machine and lock the battery isolation switch before starting any work.
Make sure that the hydraulic pump is off and that the system is depressurized before starting work.
NOTE
Replace side rails if they are worn or severely scratched.
- 1.Remove the rock drill cradle, the intermediate drill rod support, and the water hose drum from the beam.
- 2.Remove the old slide rails (A). Press the lower edges of the bar outwards.
- 3.Clean the beam surfaces thoroughly.
- 4.Install the new slide rails with the larger edge on the slide rail facing upwards. The rails are pressed in a place by hand.
- 5.Reinstall the rock drill cradle, intermediate drill rod support, and the water hose drum.
- 6.Adjust the cradle on the feed beam.
- 7.Check the feed idling pressure.
Storing Feed for Longer Period of Down-Time
- 1.Clean the feed thoroughly.
- 2.Lubricate as directed.
- 3.Protect unpainted surfaces with corrosion inhibitor.
- 4.Store the feed in a dry and clean environment.
Lubricate Drill Rod Support
- 1.Fill grease into the 6 grease nipples (A) on the drill rod support.
Lubricate Feed
- 1.Fill grease into the grease nipples (A) on the feed (B).
Lubricate Hydraulic Drill Rod Support
- 1.Fill grease into the grease nipples (A) on the hydraulic drill rod support.
Check Condition of Feed
