Installing the Dust Collector

Prepare and Position the Machine

  1. 1.
    Make sure that the machine is isolated and, if necessary, isolate the machine with the battery isolation switch.
  2. 2.
    Attach safety locks and tags to the machine in accordance with the site-specific procedures.

    NOTE

    Refer to local regulations for extra requirements.

  3. 3.
    Clean all of the components to remove dirt, rust, and contaminated grease.
  4. 4.
    Examine the pivot shaft for wear and fitting of the new bushings.
  5. 5.
    Apply grease to the complete pivot shaft.

Lifting and Installation

  1. 1.
    Install all the necessary fittings to the dust collector.
  2. 2.

    WARNING

    Crushing Hazard

    Can cause personal injury.

    1. Lifting equipment must be adequately sized, have the correct lifting capacity, and be in good condition.

    2. Be careful when you lift heavy components.

    Attach an approved lifting device to the dust collector.

    WARNING

    Crushing Hazard

    Unexpected movement of parts can cause personal injury or death.

    1. Do not put your hand or any other body parts on the object when lifting, moving, or lowering it.

    2. Do not go in, reside, or put body parts below the unsecured, moveable, or lifted parts.

    3. Do not put any part of your body in the path of the pinch point area when you remove or install the parts.

    4. Stay away from the moving parts.

    Lift and put the dust collector onto the swing arm with the attached lifting device and align it in position (Figure 14).

    Install the screws (Figure 15, item A), washers (item B), and lock nuts (item D) that attach the dust collector (item C) to the swing arm.

  5. 5.
    Torque the screws (item A) to 69 Newton meters (51 foot-pounds) dry.
  6. 6.
    Remove the attached lifting device from the dust collector.

Preparation of the Component

  1. 1.
    Attach the hose clip (Figure 16, item A) to the suction hose (item B).

  2. 2.

    WARNING

    Pinch Points

    Can cause serious injury.

    1. Keep hands and fingers away from the moving parts during removal and installation of the component.

    2. Put on the applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

    Connect the suction hose (item B) to the dust collector and secure with hose clips (item A).
  3. 3.
    Attach the hose clip (Figure 17, item A) to the rubber bag (item B).

  4. 4.
    Connect the rubber bag (item B) to the dust collector and secure with a hose clip (item A).
  5. 5.

    DANGER

    Risk of Electric Shock

    Working with electrical systems can cause serious personal injury.

    1. Only authorized personnel can do the work involving cables, electrical cabinets, fuses, and connectors.

    2. Attach safety locks and tags to the electrical switches of the specific components before working.

    3. Do not use a high-pressure washer to clean the electrical components.

    Connect the electrical cables (Figure 18, item A) to the valve block as per labels.

  6. 6.

    WARNING

    Slipping Hazard

    Fluid leaks or spills can cause personal injury.

    1. Cover all of the open ports.

    2. Wipe off any spilled fluid immediately.

    Put the container or an oil absorbent material below the dust collector to collect the spilled oil.
  7. 7.
    Start the vacuum pump.

    NOTE

    Some oil remains in all of the hoses. Install the hose connections with caution.

  8. 8.
    Connect the hoses (Figure 19, item B) to the valves (item A) that are attached to the dust collector as per labels .

    Connect the hoses (Figure 20, item A) to the hydraulic motor as per labels.

    Connect the hoses (Figure 22, item A) to the dust collector hatch cylinder as per labels.

    Stop the vacuum pump.
  13. 13.

    WARNING

    High-Pressure System

    Working with pressurized systems can cause personal injury.

    1. Do not do the maintenance work when operating the machine.

    2. Make sure that the hydraulic, water, and air systems are depressurized before you start to work on these systems.

    3. Put on applicable gloves.

    Disconnect the vacuum pump from the hydraulic tank and install the breather filter (Figure 23, item A).

  14. 14.

    CAUTION

    Environmental Contaminant

    Oil is an environmental contaminant and must be discarded correctly.

    1. Do not let the used oil drain onto the ground.

    2. Discard the used oil in accordance with local environmental regulations.

    Remove the container or absorbent materials from below the dust collector.
  15. 15.
    Disengage the gas spring (Figure 24, item C). Close the door (item A) and secure with door lock (item B).

  16. 16.
    Put a tag onto the battery isolation switch stating that the dust collector is replaced.
