Removing the Dust Collector
Prepare and Position the Machine
- 1.Park the machine on a dry and level surface.
- 2.Set the feed beam in the vertical position and make sure that the bottom end of the feed beam is on the ground (Figures 1A, 1B, and 1C).
DANGER
Electrocution Hazard
Operating near or contacting a power line with any part of the machine causes electrocution, causing death.
Do not set the feed beam to the vertical position or operate the machine near electric power lines.
Keep at least 3 meters (10 feet) away from power lines.
If there appears any danger of wind or other obstruction decreasing the distance, do not drill in that area.

- 4.Set the battery isolation switch to the OFF position.
- 5.Attach safety locks and tags to the machine in accordance with the site-specific procedures.
- 6.Release the stored energy from the hydraulic oil tank and system.
NOTE
Make sure that there is no pressure in the system.
- 7.Release the stored energy from the air tank and system.
NOTE
Make sure that there is no pressure in the system.
- 8.Open the door lock (Figure 2, item B). Open the door (item A) and secure it with gas spring (item C).

- 9.Remove the breather filter (Figure 3, item A) from the hydraulic oil tank.

- 10.Connect a vacuum pump in the hydraulic oil tank breather filter to avoid wastage of hydraulic oil when disconnecting the hydraulic hoses.
Isolation of the Component
- 1.Put the container or absorbent materials below the dust collector to collect the spilled oil.
WARNING
Slipping Hazard
Fluid leaks or spills can cause personal injury.
Cover all of the open ports.
Wipe off any spilled fluid immediately.
- 2.Align the dust collector hatch cylinder (Figure 4, item A) in the extended position.

- 3.Start the vacuum pump.
- 4.Clean, label, and disconnect the hoses (Figure 5, item A) from the dust collector hatch cylinder. Plug the hoses and cap the ports immediately.
WARNING
High Pressure
Residual pressure can cause personal injury.
Loosen the fittings carefully to release the pressure fully before you disconnect and cap the hoses.

- 5.Clean, label, and disconnect the hoses (Figure 6, item A) from the valve block. Plug the hoses and cap the ports immediately.

- 6.Clean, label, and disconnect the hoses (Figure 7, item A) that are connected to the hydraulic motor. Plug the hoses and cap the ports immediately.

- 7.Clean, label, and disconnect the hoses (Figure 8, item B) that are connected to the valves (item A). Plug the hoses and cap the ports immediately.
WARNING
High Pressure
Residual pressure can cause personal injury.
Loosen the fittings carefully to release the pressure fully before you disconnect and cap the hoses.

- 8.Stop the vacuum pump.
- 9.Remove the container or oil absorbent materials from below the dust collector.
CAUTION
Environmental Contaminant
Oil is an environmental contaminant and must be discarded correctly.
Do not let the used oil drain onto the ground.
Discard the used oil in accordance with local environmental regulations.
- 10.Label and disconnect the electrical cables (Figure 9, item A) that are connected to the valve block. Cover the cable ends with an electrical tape immediately.
DANGER
Risk of Electric Shock
Working with electrical systems can cause serious personal injury.
Only authorized personnel can do the work involving cables, electrical cabinets, fuses, and connectors.
Attach safety locks and tags to the electrical switches of the specific components before working.
Do not use a high-pressure washer to clean the electrical components.

- 11.Loosen the hose clip (Figure 10, item A) that attach the rubber bag (item B) to the dust collector.

- 12.Remove the rubber bag (item B) and hose clip (item A) from the dust collector and store them in a safe location. Cover the open port on the dust collector.
- 13.Remove the hose clip (Figure 11, item A) that attach the suction hose (item B) to the dust collector.

- 14.Put the hose clip (item A) in a safe location.
- 15.Disconnect the suction hose (item B) from the dust collector and put it in a safe location. Cover the open port on the dust collector
WARNING
Pinch Points
Can cause serious injury.
Keep hands and fingers away from the moving parts during removal and installation of the component.
Put on the applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Lifting and Removal
- 1.Attach an approved lifting device to the dust collector and support it (Figure 12).
WARNING
Crushing Hazard
Can cause personal injury.
Lifting equipment must be adequately sized, have the correct lifting capacity, and be in good condition.
Be careful when you lift heavy components.
Figure 12 - 2.Remove the screws (Figure 13, item A), washers (item B), and lock nuts (item D) that attach the dust collector (item C) to the swing arm. Discard the hardware.

- 3.Lift the dust collector away from the swing arm with the attached lifting device and put it in a safe location.
WARNING
Crushing Hazard
Unexpected movement of parts can cause personal injury or death.
Do not put your hand or any other body parts on the object when lifting, moving, or lowering it.
Do not go in, reside, or put body parts below the unsecured, moveable, or lifted parts.
Do not put any part of your body in the path of the pinch point area when you remove or install the parts.
Stay away from the moving parts.
- 4.Remove the attached lifting device from the dust collector.
- 5.Put a tag onto the battery isolation switch stating that the dust collector is removed from the machine.
