Removing the Feed Holder
Prepare and Position the Machine
Precondition
For Boltec M Machine: The drill steel support is removed in accordance with the Drill Steel Support Removal and Installation procedure.
For Cabletec M, Cabletec E, and Cabletec LC Machine: The rod handling system is removed in accordance with the Rod Handling System Removal and Installation procedure.
For Cabletec M, Cabletec E, and Cabletec LC Machine: The look-out cylinder is removed in accordance with the Look-out Cylinder Removal and Installation procedure.
The feed extension cylinder is removed in accordance with the Feed Extension Cylinder Removal and Installation procedure.
The feed beam is removed in accordance with the Feed Beam Removal and Installation procedure.
- 1.Make sure that the machine is isolated and, if necessary, isolate the machine with the battery isolation switch.
- 2.Support the boom and the feed holder with the approved maintenance stands for safety (Figure 1).
WARNING
Heavy Components
Lifting the heavy components by hand can cause body or muscle strains.
Position the body accordingly to support the weight of the component.

Isolation of the Component
- 1.Label and disconnect the sensor cable (Figures 2A, 2B, 2C, and 2D, item A) from the sensor set (item B).

- 2.Secure cable out of harms way.
- 3.Support the sensor set (item B).
- 4.Remove the sensor set hardware as follows:
- Alternative stepFor Boltec M Machine: Remove the screws (Figure 3A, item C) and the spacers (item B) from the sensor set (item A). Discard the hardware.

- For Cabletec M and Cabletec E Machine: Remove sensor set (item A), plates (item C), and protector (item D) from the feed holder and store it in a safe location.Optional step
- For Cabletec LC Machine: Remove sensor set (item A) and the protector (item D) from the feed holder and store it in a safe location.Optional step
Lifting and Removal
- 1.Attach an approved lifting device to the feed holder (Figures 4A, 4B, 4C, and 4D).
WARNING
Crushing Hazard
Can cause personal injury.
Lifting equipment must be adequately sized, have the correct lifting capacity, and be in good condition.
Be careful when you lift heavy components.

For Boltec M Machine: Remove the twenty screw (Figure 5A, item A) and the lock nuts (item B) that secure the feed holder to the rotary unit. Discard the hardware.

For Cabletec M Machine: Remove the lock nut (Figure 5B, item D), bolt (item A), shaft (item C), and O-rings (item) that secure the feed holder. Discard the hardware.

For Boltec M Machine: Remove the twenty screw (Figure 5A, item A) and the lock nuts (item B) that secure the feed holder to the rotary unit. Discard the hardware.
- 3.Remove the feed holder hardware as follows:

For Cabletec E Machine: Remove the eight screws (Figure 6A, item A) and the sensor bracket (item B) from the feed holder. Discard the hardware.

- Remove the bolt (item C) and the lock nut (item D) from the feed holder. Discard the hardware.
- Remove the pin seal (Figure 6B, item A) and the shaft (item B) from the feed holder.

- Remove the screws (Figure 6C, item A) and the plain washers (item B) from the thrust washer (item C). Discard the hardware.

- Remove the thrust washer (item C) from the feed holder.

For Cabletec E Machine: Remove the eight screws (Figure 6A, item A) and the sensor bracket (item B) from the feed holder. Discard the hardware.
- 4.Remove the feed holder hardware as follows:

For Cabletec LC Machine: Remove the four screws (Figure 7A, items A and C) from the cover (items B and D). Discard the hardware.

- Remove the bolt (Figure 7B, item A) and the shaft (item B) from the feed holder. Discard the hardware.

For Cabletec LC Machine: Remove the four screws (Figure 7A, items A and C) from the cover (items B and D). Discard the hardware.
- 5.Slowly remove the feed holder from the rotary unit with the attached lifting device.
WARNING
Crushing Hazard
Unexpected movement of parts can cause personal injury or death.
Do not put your hand or any other body parts on the object when lifting, moving, or lowering it.
Do not go in, reside, or put body parts below the unsecured, moveable, or lifted parts.
Do not put any part of your body in the path of the pinch point area when you remove or install the parts.
Stay away from the moving parts.
- 6.Lift the feed holder from the machine and put it on the approved surface.
- For Boltec M and Cabletec M Machine: Remove the attachment plates as follows:Optional step
- Support the attachment plate (Figures 8A and 8B, item D).

- For Boltec M Machine: Remove the lock nuts (Figure 8A, item C), screws (item A), and washers (item B) that secure the attachment plate (item D) to the feed holder. Discard the hardware.
- For Cabletec M Machine: Remove the screws (Figure 8B, items A and C) and washers (item B) that secure the attachment plate (item D) to the feed holder. Discard the hardware.
- Remove the attachment plate (item D) and store in a safe location.
WARNING
Heavy Components
Lifting the heavy components by hand can cause body or muscle strains.
Position the body accordingly to support the weight of the component.
- Repeat steps a to d to remove the other attachment plate from the feed holder.
- Support the attachment plate (Figures 8A and 8B, item D).
- 7.Lift the feed holder from the surface and store it in a safe location (Figures 9A, 9B, 9C, and 9D).
WARNING
Crushing Hazard
Unexpected movement of parts can cause personal injury or death.
Do not put your hand or any other body parts on the object when lifting, moving, or lowering it.
Do not go in, reside, or put body parts below the unsecured, moveable, or lifted parts.
Do not put any part of your body in the path of the pinch point area when you remove or install the parts.
Stay away from the moving parts.
