NOTE

This information is valid for delivered machine. Unauthorized modifications or additional equipment can cause instability.

Remote Machine Stability

The Office TeleREMOTE operator must make sure that they are familiar with the gradients over which the remote machine can tram safely. Information regarding stability is included in the documentation that is supplied with the remote machine.

The Office TeleREMOTE operator drives machines remotely making it difficult to judge distance and depth accurately.

Situations can occur when the Office TeleREMOTE operator is unsure whether it is safe to move a remote machine. When unsure the operator must:

  1. Stop the machine immediately.

  2. Contact personnel in the vicinity to check if it is safe to move the machine.

  3. Resume remote operation only when confirmation is received.

Working on Slopes with Remote Machine

WARNING

Risk of Remote Machine Tipping

A remote machine operates some distance away from the Teleremote station. The Teleremote operator cannot judge depth and gradient accurately.

  1. Do not operate remote machines on gradients which are near the operational limit.

The Teleremote is equipped with an electronic gradient meter (inclinometer) in the display panel which shows the actual operational gradient of a remote machine.

Care must be taken not to operator the remote machine on gradients which are near the operational limit. The operator is removed from the machine environment, and is unable to sense and feel the actual motion of the remote machine.

Working Near a Drop-off With a Remote Machine

WARNING

Risk of Remote Machine Falling Over the Edge of a Drop-off

When a remote machine is controlled from a Teleremote, the ability of the operator to judge distances is limited. The risk that a machine can fall over the edge of a drop-off is greatly increased.

  1. Stop remote operation immediately if the Teleremote operator is unsure if it is safe to move a remote machine near the edge of a drop-off. Personnel near the remote machine must confirm that it is safe to move the remote machine before resuming operations.

Operate with extreme caution near drop-offs. The ability to judge distances when remotely operating a machine is limited.
